Ted Turner

So I caught a small part of the 20/20 special last night.  Turns out that Ted Turner feels that 2 Billion is not enough money to have and that he should not feel compelled to be charitable with what God has given him.

Now I don't condone forcing rich people to donate to charities because that is just too close to a government based tax, but from the perspective of working in the mental health field.... it just seems like it would be nice to have even 1% of Ted Turner's money.  Mental health suffers from a severe lack of funding due to insurance company premiums being so high and a lack of charitable giving.  I work at a center were the per client amount of money that is allocated is only $8.  That means that each month we have exactly $8 to spend on the client for all services.  Our case managers make $8/hour, which means that if they see a particular client more than once in a month (which they should to ensure the client continues to improve), they have officially gone over their allocation for that client.  This also does not include any cost for the client to see the doctor, nurse or to receive any form of medication.

I have an idea... to provide more funding for the mental health field... let's lower the salaries of Congress and the Senate.  The bleeding heart liberals are always talking about wanting to tax the rich and give the funds to the lower and middle class... well how about John Kerry and Ted Kennedy take a salary cut and donate the money to the people that "really need it".

At least it is over...

Well... we lost... not by quite the range the Democrats were predicting... but a loss is still a loss.  I have spent all morning listening to radio commentary and reading articles.  Some believe that it is the media and the publics fault for being unfairly turned against the Republicans.  Some believe it is the Republicans fault for not running on a platform of what they intend to do to improve America.  I personally believe it is a little of both, and I shall elaborate:

1) The Republican party has had a significant majority for years now.  They had the ability to create legislation that firmly stood for the conservative outlook.

2) They didn't do it.  Yes there were a few bright points (tax cuts, focus on national security, etc...), but in general they did not stand for conservative values, and even went against the public opinion (no concrete Marriage Amendment, Illegal Amnesty, Fiscial Irresponsibility).

3) The public is going to vote for the people they feel are standing up for what they believe, which is the Republicans... when they stand up for conservative values.  People voted for the Democrats in the hopes that the mysterious liberal plan would be closer to what the public believes (it wont be... but hope springs eternal and stupid decisions are made)

So... in the end... the public voted for what they thought was best for America, not because they like the Democrats message and know what they will do for America, but because the KNOW that the Republicans aren't doing it.  It is a shared responsibility... Republicans didn't give the public a concrete, conservative reason to vote for them.... but the public is at fault for all the crap the Democrats do for the next 2 years.

For the record... I voted straight ticket Republican... because even if they are off base, at least they aren't on another planet like the Democrats.  I just hope I can still feed my family once the taxes go up.

Pocket Check

So some how our economy is so bad, even though the Dow is above 12,000 and has been for awhile now.  Democrats make excuses by saying that the Dow only shows investments, which is only helpful for the rich fat-cats in America.  What the Democrats seem to forget is that the rich fat-cats are the ones that run the businesses that employ the American people.  Unemployment is at 4.4% and from my experiences with the clients here, the only ones without jobs are the ones too lazy or unmotivated to go out and get one.

Don't even get me started on how many jobs we would have for American citizens if we kicked all the illegals out... you don't have that kind of time. :)

Anyway...  the Democrats says that only the rich have profited from the Bush tax cuts... which is a load of crap.  I make barely $30,000 in a good year... which last time I checked means I am not "rich".  The difference is that compared to my economic status during the Clinton era, I actually have money to spend on luxury items.  That's right... the middle class man has money to go buy his wife some flowers, or a nice dinner or perish the thought... a new car.

How is it that someone in the middle class is able to do that if I am supposedly being taxed so badly so that oil barons can make more money... Answer me that Democrats...

And to quote our amazing president last night in Dallas (which I got to go to...), when discussing the Democrats complaints about his policies "What's your plan?"

Introductions seem to be in order

Good morning everyone.... I find myself with the overwhelming need to begin a blog to journal my thoughts on some of the idiocy I see in our great country today.  I think the best thing would be to provide at least a brief introduction so that you have a more complete picture of where I am coming from.

I am a married, conservative, christian, right-wing, male that fits into the 18-45 year old bracket you are always hearing about that supposedly is where every politician is trying to prove them self and get votes.  I hold a Master degree in Counseling Education and currently work behind enemy lines at a Texas Mental Health and Mental Retardation facility.  I am a committed listener to Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Mike Gallagher.

Ok.. now that all the Democrats in the audience have left, having written me off as a right-wing nutjob...  a little bit about my political views.

I believe in smaller government, lower taxes, national security, kicking the immigrants completely out of our country one person at a time and most importantly... personal responsibility.  I believe the government has absolutely no idea how I want my money spent in terms of my health care, housing or retirement fund.  I believe in school vouchers, privatization of social security and the right for me to not only own a gun, but protect my family with it if the need arises.

So now you know a little bit about me...  I am just slightly to the right of Rush Limbaugh... but overall I am easy enough to get along with. :)
